Hello
I have been a norn for a while and only just discovered the line saying denizen do not map rune to active but trait to active.
I have a couple a of questions. lets imagine a essence 6 Destiny 2 denizen wit 2 rune of each trait.
if I map power attack and lunging attack to the physical trait, does that mean that i could use either of these active with a physical rune?
and if so, doesn't that give denizen a much higher versatility then dweller ?
Also it is written that it reduce the amount of checkups and quickens battle, but you still have to know which active are which trait, the power of the active and it's potential meta ...so I don't really see how.
Maybe I'm just understanding this wrong ?
thank you
Denizen mapping Active to traits?

Re: Denizen mapping Active to traits?
Yup, for denizens you simply need to match the Trait/colour.
It's faster since you can already pre-group your powers into categories based on colour, so when you Wyrd, you have a good idea of what you can do. It does speed things up tremendously, not having to look for exact symbol matches.
And yes, they do have an advantage over the dwellers in regards to that versatility, but the dwellers do have the Void rune, so there's some give and take on both sides for advantages.
Makes sense?

Re: Denizen mapping Active to traits?
completely! thanks a lot !
my only surprise at this point is that i have played so many game without ever noticing this rules and always made complete rune for power out of every NPC XD
On a side note, I don't remember if it is mentioned somewhere, would you build full dweller for main or recurring (human) antagonist, or do you usually stick to Denizen for anything not a Player character ?

Not sure if you mean using archetypes as denizens? Sure, absolutely!slanse wrote:completely! thanks a lot !

Just as you can dip into denizens for advanced play when allowing players to choose non-human races (a undocumented feature of the game). Players would have access to multiple boards, starting at the center of each board and could bind runes to whichever board they'd like to. So say you allow a player to play a Shadow Skui Seithkona... if they had 8 Essence, they could bind 4 runes on the Seithkona board and 4 on the Shadow Skui board. When they level-up and choose a new rune, they could choose which board they bind will bind the new rune to. Anyhow this is something somewhat off topic, but an example of how you can utilize the runic game system in creative ways above and beyond what is written in the book.

Yes this is what I meant,
thanks for the ideas

Re: Denizen mapping Active to traits?
If I build a dweller as an adversary (say I want them to fight a seithkona or something) then I usually give them a void rune and full rune mapping. The archtypes are really balanced to have that void rune power.
Re: Denizen mapping Active to traits?
for your missed rule, I missed that too.

for a sample of a wolf I made in this style. I might do it without the metas in the future.
