How do you Maintain Power Over Wind?

One of my players posed an interesting question to me tonight that I’m not really sure how to answer.

Power Over Wind has a Maintain meta available. If you use it, is it recast from whatever space the user is standing in during upkeep, does it just automatically affect whoever you originally cast it on, or does it recast from whatever spot you originally cast it in?

An example that could be interpreted as any of these: you’re being chased down a narrow hallway and cast power over wind, maintained. Does the original target of the spell keep getting damaged and pushed back every upkeep? Does any adjacent foe get blasted during knockback as you continue down the rhetorical hallway? Or can you cast on a spot to just create a wall of Wind that keeps blasting people who walk through it, letting you build up a lead?

power over fire has a similar thing going on. With PoF, is it the range of the torch from you, or the length of the whip?

I think the question is can you change targets with the maintain up. I think this is a Norn call for their game.

With power over fire I usually let them choose whether it’s a longer whip or a regular one from farther away. And at least with power over fire, I know that if the fire source is mobile, like a torch, then the whip can be moved around, but if it’s rooted in place, like a call fire, it stays where it was cast.

Power Over Wind seems crazy versatile though if you let the player choose how the maintain works.

Maintained powers are recast during upkeep, this means that new targets can be chosen. If the caster moved, then the location will change as well.

Of course you can house rule it as you please, so long as you stay consistent across all maintained powers.
