Liches

So, I've created some in game information for an original NPC who is more or less the Witch Queen/Necromancer Queen Archetype. She's long dead but her spirit persists and her agents are currently alive (and un-alive!) and working towards the goal of bringing her back. In D&D/Pathfinder terms, she would be a Lich. In Ragnarok terms, I was wondering what she might be statted out as?

Wight Sovereign is an obvious choice but I'd like for her to be a bit more special than that. Wight Sovereign with Angel of Death/Seithkona levels? And a very special monolith/phylactery?

The closest thing to a liche would be a haugbui. A soul damned to Midgard, kept there by a curse or unresolved desire. If you want to add levels of Seithkona or other archetypes, that's great, since the system is built for power/skill board mix and match (see troll blooded and other multi-board setups). The "phylactery" wasn't a Norse theme, but if you elaborate, we can probably brainstorm a solution to your villain's backstory.

I am eyeballs deep in company taxes, so these past few weeks have been consumed with accounting rather than anything fun and game related.

So, I was working on this very large post about the background of the NPC and how I weaved some new lore into your existing stuff to try to explain what I wanted her to "be able to do" (that was lich-like) when I was rereading the Wight Sovereign section and realized that it was almost exactly what I WAS looking for. Long ago, the NPC sought out the 'help' of a single legendary solitary Witch who it was rumored bartered in souls like the Wight Sovereigns and - plot plot, story story, etc. - in the end the actual Necromancer Queen surpassed her mistress in power but was defeated and sought to cheat death by placing her soul into some sort of object that was then passed down through several generations of apprentices who have been working towards getting the necessary power and prerequisites to free her soul from the object. When that happens, she's actually be closer to a Demilich than a Lich...

And if you just replace a Wight Sovereign's Monolith with a Skull... Mechanically it would work very similarly.

The closest to a proper Lich I can think of in Northern or Eastern European lore is actually Koschei, who's in Denizens of the North. But her case is definitely closer to the magic supporting a Wight, correct?

I think you nailed it for the closest creature to a "lich", and yes, the monolith can be swapped out for any kind of phylactery. Let us know how it goes!
