Damage

Post by lmoritz »

I did a test run of the module last night and it went very well but I have a question regarding damage and the character sheets (newer versions).

It was not clear to me on the newer versions of the character sheets what the bubbles at the top were. Destiny is clear but what about DF. Do you add DF to damage generated? When you play an amplify does it also amplify the DF number? People were getting ridiculous amounts of damage last night and I was unsure if that was by design or not.

Also - there is a PF number and I assume that number is for all types of damage regardless of type.

Another aesthetic thing about the character sheets. The players thought they were beautiful but hard to read. The suggestion was to keep the graphics but maybe fade them out a bit more. We gamers are getting old ;)

Thank you for any help! I am excited to play it at the con!

DF is damage factor. It's the total damage from the weapons BEFORE any modifiers from the attack. If you were to play a generic attack action, that's what you'd get.

If you were to do a power, that would be the damage of the attack before modifiers and before amplifies. You would amplify this number, at least. If you were to take Hagar, for example from Denizens of the North, and amplify his Reckless Power Attack, you would get (4+3)x2 damage (in addition to being required to make 2 minor sacrifices).

It IS in the designed to get very high damage numbers. It is supposed to be EPIC. I like to think of it as Anime Vikings, because the whole giant axe massive damage sort of impression it gives. Also, note, you can use DEFLECT with a shield and actually get triple your parry, easily outpacing Amplify.

PF by default is for physical ONLY. It says that somewhere in the core book.

Regarding the character sheets, which ones are you referring to? the Fafnir's ones, or the Denizens ones?

Thank you....the sheets I am referrring to is the Denizens ones....

OK....so the number in the bubble on the sheet is the number for damage and then you can augment that by using powers...got it! Thank you!

yes, it is. Solblindi, for instance, has a DF of 4 listed - 3 for his spear, and 1 for his Martial Prowess. So his destroyer of crowds does 4 base, +1 for every 2 guys near him. if he was to amplify, he amplifies all of that ((4+1)x2 for one amp, x3 for 2 amps, etc)

The 2015 pre-gens have summarized numbers at the top for convenience. They sum up every modifier that isn't a conditional (they include weapons and continuous bonuses). The only thing that would need to be added are the situaitonal modifiers. I hope this helps! :)
