Raspberry Fishcakes?

Post by DavetheLost »

Are these a real thing, and if so can I get a recipe? I want to inflict, err, share this local delicacy with my players...

Ha! No, they were a joke. They came up spontaneously in a 2012 demo game and have stuck as Sven's delicacy. Some players have been stymied as to how Sven gets fresh raspberries in the middle of Fimbulwinter, and more than 1 group has abandoned their main quest in order to find out- LOL! ;)

Maybe I will simulate them with fish sticks and raspberry jam. I just need to think of a suitable reward for actually eating them.

Somehow, this doesn't seem all that strange.
Nordic cooking has evolved a great deal, and the combination of the tartness of the raspberry with a either a cake made out of foam of cod or alaska pollock, may not be as foreign to the current nordic kitchen as you might think. So, this in viking times might not be as stupid as it sounds.
Not a bad idea for a dish...

I am thinking that in the time of Ragnarok and the fimbulwinter any food made with raspberries, especially fresh ones would be a highly prized delicacy. Interesting the hear that these may actually be in the nordic cooking tradition.
