Re: What music do you play in the background?
I have been listening to some punkbilly and psychobilly bands lately since inspiration struck with regards to my ol' western/meso-american RPG. Thought I'd revisit this thread and add some more bands to the playlist...

I made a Seith and Sword Playlist on Spotify. Most of it contains songs I listened to while writing it. Some of it contains songs that remind me of the novel. Lots of Ensiferum, which is fitting given it's Kalevala content in the novel:
* The Call of the Mountains - Eluveitie
* In My Sword I Trust - Ensiferum
* Twilight Tavern - Ensiferum
* Two of Spades - Ensiferum
* One More Magic Potion - Ensiferum
* The Longest Journey - Ensiferum
* Voyage of the Fallen - Xandria
* Halvdan the Black - Leaves' Eyes
* Hell to the Heavens - Leaves' Eyes
* Mordred's Lullaby (TOL mix) - Heather Dale
* The Morrigan - Heather Deale
* Mountain - Heather Dale
* Odin's Other Eye - Heather Dale
* Going to Hell - Acoustic - The Pretty Reckless
* Rotlaust Re Fell - Wardruna
* Helvegen - Wardruna
* Rose Tattoo - Dropkick Murphys
* Kingdom - Battle Beast
* Inis Mona - Eluveitie
* One Many Army - Ensiferum
* Hold the Heathen Hammer High - Tyr
* Heathen Horde - Ensiferum
* Lai Lai Hei - Ensiferum
* Bloody Poetry - Grieves
* Shreds - Greives
* The Call of the Mountains - Eluveitie

Re: What music do you play in the background?
I like a lot of these suggestions! I have downloaded most of them because of this thread, and they make great inspirational music while writing/planning.
When I am actually playing though, I have a playlist of music from http://tabletopaudio.com I find it blends into the background well, while still setting a mood.

And if you favour prog rock over Swedish metal, Marillion "Grendel" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxp5KJOHqmI
