Ran a two-part session of Fafnir's treasure for my local 2-player group. They chose Turbog and Jokull, and that seemed to be a good combination in terms of physical power--I could have ramped the combats up a notch or two. I used the suggested mixes, but could have done 3 (or 4, but might have been a bit deadly) Haugbui at the barrow mounds, and 2 or 3 Rusalka. I only did one Rusalka and they had an uneasy moment when Turbog was hit by a mental attack (we used the full damage from the Core rules) and lost his complete first round, but the synergy you get with multiple Rusalka was missing. Lessons for next time!

Both players enjoyed the system and thought it was very clever and engaging. They especially appreciated the layout of the pre-gens, which allowed them to find very quickly most of the information they were looking for.

Glad to hear about your fun saga! What did you choose as the disposition of the treasure? Cursed? How will you continue the adventures?

We are touring with new pre-gens now, and have used icons for damage/pierce and parry/PF to make it even easier on players to find what they are looking for. Glad to hear the format worked well!

Yeah some builds such as the rusalki scale in a frightening way with more than 1

I went with the wimpy, non-cursed treasure, although both players were familiar enough that a fully cursed treasure would have been perhaps more appropriate.

By that point, they had worked themselves into a tizzy, because they had approached both the Einherjar and Son of Muspel and couldn't decide which too support and were fairly sure supporting either would incur the wrath of the other. They eventually decided to give the ring to the Einherjar--consequences to follow.

Magnus was potentially their benefactor, but they decided they couldn't trust him.

For future plotlines, they were interested in both the mines and the polar bear problems and have gone some way to convincing Ingvar they might be relied upon as troubleshooters.

Nice!

The next book Denizens of the North will have a saga based around the mines. We also have a saga around Ivar and another about a fishing outpost dealing with a close encounter with Jormungand! The second two may not make the editors cut since we are trying to control the page count. But fear not they will be released!

The next few manuscripts are based around a rather large and abitious story arc that takes dwellers throughout all of Midgard and even the heavens, play testing in progess! :) :) :)

Finally got one of my D&D groups to run through Fafnir's treasure. There were some snafus (they're still new to tabletop/role-playing; so they didn't really explore much of the town or interact with many of the dwellers. Also, never expect high schoolers to pre-print their materials and come prepared), but they said they enjoyed it more than D&D; so I'm sure I'll be running it again once I have the time.

I was planning on having the treasure be cursed but with the option to summon Andvari to remove it, but between them not knowing Die Niebelungenlied or learning anything from the townsfolk (and we ran out of time to use the room), I had to leave it un-cursed.
