At what point are Sacrificed runes returned to Essence? The example of play for Open rune chains was not entirely clear to me.

According to the normal order of play I'd assume runes in Stun or Wounds were either naturally Recovered or moved back up towards Essence as a result of player's Passive abilities or other healing effects; however on page 108 of the Core Rulebook it states "At the end of the turn, the effect (of the Spell Song) persists; on the next turn during Upkeep, he recovers the one rune in Stun."

Also the example says that the Sacrifice required for Open rune chains is "equal to 2 plus the number of runes to the right of the Open meta." However, it shows 1 rune to the right of the Open meta but only 2 runes in Stun - shouldn't it be 3 according to the preceding sentence?

Sacrifice costs are... think of it as "voluntary damage" (part of the casting cost if you ever played Magic the Gathering)

The runes return like any other damaged runes through recover and healing.

Now OPEN is a better version of MAINTAIN. You can add more runes to the rune chain in play. So for the bonus, you have to have an offset bad thing happen to you (ie. sacrifice). You take a little for the first play of the rune chain with OPEN, and then you'll take a bit more with each rune you add to the chain. I hope the Pendel dudes put out a video for this one. I have had this question asked a million times.

Hope this helps bro!
