I'm planning on making my own sets of runes for this game while I wait for Amazon to finally ship the book. Since I don't have the book yet, I really only have the pictures from the pdf I can find online, and I'm a little confused by the layout.

I get the 24 futhark runes and the color coding, but then there are 8 blanks ones instead of the one I would expect for the void rune. Should a rune set be 25 (24 futhark + 1 void rune) or is it 32 (24 futhark + 8 void runes)?

Thanks in advance.

futhark + 1 void rune per player (even though you won't use all of them unless you play uber high level)

Welcome!

Attempt #1: Polymer clay (clearly, I was never an art student):

I bought blocks of polymer clay from Michaels's (around $1.50 per block), divided the colored blocks into 4 and shaped them into rectangles. I used a thick paperclip to carve the rune shape in, and then rolled little "snakes" of black clay to press into the indentation.

They also make a polymer clay that (supposedly) looks like granite when baked, if you want a stone look and then paint in the runes.

Attempt #2: glass tiles + dremel + glass paint (paint has to dry for four days still, so not completely sure how they'll look when done):

Those look sweet! But if they're made of glass, don't they get cracks when they rub against one another in the rune bag?

Some home made wood runes (slices of a birch branch). Lacquered surfaces to protect symbols and bark. Might redo the symbols however, since they appear a bit too flashy. Would prefer a little more "natural" colors...
