Example:
------------------
Sun and Moon
Range / Multi / Amplify
Deal +2S damage to an adjacent foe and heal yourself or an adjacent ally by +4.
-------------------

So, the obvious use for a Multi meta would be to dish out 2S dmg to 3 opponents or the Range meta to hit an opponent up to 10 hexes away.

But is is possible to use a Multi meta to deal dmg to 1 foe and healing up to 3 adjacent allies and/or myself ? Or use a range meta to touch an opponent and heal an ally up to 10hexes away ?
Or even more sophisticated, using 1 Range meta to hit an opponent 10 hexes away and another to heal an ally up to 10 hexes away?

Neither Multi nor Range meta specify that they extend the root to opponents only...

Range and multi would affect both effects, just as Amplify would as well.

As soon as you multi, start picking 3 allies and 3 foes!

We had a game where a Seithkona had a magic item that added Area to her first spell each round. She Sun and Mooned with both range and multi, affecting 6 people within 15 hexes, but she also hit an area around each of the 6 people... it was pretty wild! ;)

Nice, that's even more versatile/stronger than I anticipated o.0
Thanks for clarifying, I should hunt for more actions with multiple source then ^^
