Last night's game had some imposing barriers (active power) erected in front of some ragers. We got into a protracted debate on how hard it would be for the ragers to bash through 5' of ice. We handled it by granting the wall 24 Essence. The ragers decided to jump up and pull themselves on top of the 10' wall instead (athletics 3).

Has anyone had this scenario play out? If you had to deal with this how would you handle it?

You can house rule the requrements for all occasions or call it on the fly. My suggestion for an on the fly approach would be that you make it more expensive (rune-wise) to break than to climb over. So if It takes 2 runes to climb over (or 1 Physical rune), then it would take approximately 4 attacks (4 runes) to break 1 block (hex). You'd have to quickly calculate what the DPS output is from 1 rune and multiply it up. Your approach sounds good though! :)
