I haven’t had a chance yet to build out the power boards for this yet, but I’ll start it this week (not focusing on any new homebrew until after tomorrow’s game), but I’ll post them here once they’re done.

Might make for a fun and memorable fight if you had a big serpent, and any time it took slashing or piercing damage, a swarm of snakes falls out and joins the fight.

Once it’s started spilling the snake swarms all over the ground, it has the option to pay an ultimate sacrifice +1 to fully heal all active swarms (more snakes squirt out of open wounds, reinforcing them).

what kind of level are you thinking for this creature? And Might I suggest something like stitched kindred for this power?

Im just thinking for balancing reasons the healing all active swarms sounds pretty harsh.

Personally I might give the mother a death cry, that she uses her last rune for as an interupt (aka killing her self) with Ultimate sacrifice, to heal all of the other swarms, this way it rewards players who where doing the CC for the snake swarms,
thats just me tho.

I love the death cry idea. That’s pretty awesome and I’ll definitely use it. Maybe death cry fully heals all active swarms and puts them in a rage?

And I’m not sure on level. It’s probably a boss fight, so high-ish. I’m planning on sending them to Hvergelmir later in the campaign, so that’s when it would come up. Base level...maybe 6? One higher than krakens with the revised LOTA attributes? To be clear, I definitely want death to seem like a very real possibility in this fight.

I will share it as soon as I have a chance to write it up lol, juggling a lot of stuff at once. I’ll hopefully have a rough draft in the next week or two. What’s the best way to share that sort of thing on the forums?

Ok so I think this is more or less what I'm going for. Bearing in mind that this is a boss monster, and you probably won't find more than a couple at time, here's what I've got so far. I wanted something that can take a beating. I gave it an alka spell to try to divide up attackers and something to slow them down when it comes to fighting their way through the swarms of snakes.

Size/Move: 6/12
Base Powers: Quadrupedal Movement (has move speed of a quadruped, despite the lack of legs). Twilight Vision. Possession always invites the presence of the Alsvartr.
If the Brood-Mother takes weapon damage during a round, lvl 18 swarm of 3 snakes spills out of the wound at the end of the round. 1 swarm per wound.
When the Brood-Mother reaches her final undamaged rune, she pays a Major Sacrifice +1, killing herself, and healing all active swarms created by her.
The Brood-Mother can only create as many swarms as she has Essence.

Beckon Hvergelmir [Amplify, Amplify, Amplify] {Alka Spell} (Field of Thorny Vines): Create a 4 hex alka. The affected hexes become a writhing mass of vicious serpents that lash out anyone who gets too close. Their bites deal 4 physical damage with 4 pierce, as well as 1 mental damage. Unlike most beckon spells, it can be used in the realm of origin.
Constrict [Maintain, Multi, Maintain] {Maneuver} (Swallow): constrict a creature of half or less your size and attempt to choke the life out of them. They receive Impeded +1 per size difference [Counter P]. Unless Impeded is reduced to 0, the defender is considered constricted and must reduce impeded to 0 to escape. If Maintained, the defender remains constricted during upkeep, and suffers Impeded +1 and Degen +1 per size difference. Constricted can attack constrictor; constrictor can’t defend against such attacks, but can perform unarmed generic attacks against the constricted creature. Impeded is reduced by 1 every time the constrictor takes damage.
Snake Call [Amplify, Open, Area] {Spell Song} (Swords to Snakes): all size 3 or smaller weapons in the affected area are transformed into aggressive snakes that bite their wielders for 3 damage 2 pierce. Amplify increases both the size of the weapon and damage of the snakes. If Maintained, the snake attacks the wielder or the nearest foe once per round, during Upkeep.

Fangs: DF +1, Pierce +1, Parry +1 while unarmed. Additional +1 per 5 levels.
Unencumbered Dodger: PF +1 P, Parry +1 while unarmored. Additional PF +1 per 5 levels, additional Parry +1 per 10 levels.
Tactical Advantage: free move during Upkeep
Superb Swimmer: +2 Move if half or more in water.
Rune of the Darkstitched: sacrifice costs go up 1 category. Reflect 10 points of damage back on attackers.
Maternal Instinct (Haugbui’s Curse): must stay within 100’ of nest. PF +2 P, PF +1 S.
Titanic Size:You gain size +1, and an additional +1 per 10 levels, but can't use magic items.
Survival: Wilderness
Lore: Locales
Lore: Personas
Sense Motive

I may build out a proper board at some point, but for now, this is good enough. Thoughts?

I think you have a good build here. 1 active power per trait keeps things simple, and you have 3 powers that can be used at any time (no prerequisite conditions). For constrict you have (in most cases) 2 levels of impeded being applied which is a reasonable challenge level.

Passives look pretty straight forward. Will you have water on the battlefield? I ask because of Superb Swimmer. Darkstitched is fantastic on boss monsters, especially if they are whacking it to drop constriction. Is her size base 8? If so you can drop the titanic size from the build to simplify the text.

What's her Essence/Destiny? What level are the dwellers and how many?

Let us know how it goes!

No, I’ve got size/move 6/12 before adding any passives, 8 was just the base level. It seemed a very powerful creature and deserving of a higher base level. I haven’t actually assigned a level yet since I’m not sure when my players will be encountering it. These are just the main powers and skills to choose from, and the higher level you make it, the more duplicates of those powers you’d add. Whatever level I choose, it’ll be padded in such a way to make sure Essence and Destiny are equal. I do that for all my monsters and many of my significant NPCs, just for convenience sake.

As for the party, I’ve got a level 20, a level 17, and a level 16. There’s also a level 6 thane and a level 16 thane.

As for Superb Swimmer, I don’t really know for certain how much water I’ll have, but the descriptions of Hvergelmir in LOTA made it sound like there’s a lot of water there, and even if I misunderstood that, I believe one of the books mentions that all major waterways have a portal to Hvergelmir, so it seems thematically appropriate. Am I better off replacing it with something like Burrow?

Oh right, Hvergelmir is a very damp place, with rivers, stagnant water, fog, dripping, etc...
