Imposing Barrier

Post by Balasar »

Would you say that amplifying Imposing Barrier increases the height of your Imposing Barrier? I love the idea of using it for exploration, escaping enemies, and killing people with fall damage. It basically makes it a spell built around your ability to come up with creative uses, which is something my players are encouraged and rewarded for doing. But if you increase the 10’ height according Amplify rules, it gets kind of out of hand very quickly.

Also, most Alkas don’t allow multiple tokens per space, but do any of you allow stacking on imposing Barrier (similar to the water alkas in LOTA)?

ok so amplifying alkas gives you more alkas.

As per the expanded alkas rules, alkas ignore gravity, allowing you to stack them vertically. You want taller walls? Presto! ;)

Ok that’s what I thought, but I wasn’t sure if that counted as placing them in the space. Thanks!

Christ...this spell is broken in combat.

Sitting here drinking my coffee, thinking about my favorite spells, and I just realized that if you can stack the hexes, you can lift someone up to ridiculous heights and drop them. As I understand it, fall damage is 2^(height/10). Assuming we’re stacking all tokens under one person:

No Amplify: 40’, 16 damage
1 Amplify: 80’, 256 damage
2 Amplify: 120’, 4096 damage
3 Amplify: 160’, 65,536 damage
...
9 Amplify: 400’, 1.0995E12.

I’m suddenly really glad none of my players are skalds...
