Re: Vanagard BETA

Oh, I know Marvel Heroic well. It's a pretty awesome game and, I suppose, one of my inspirations for this. Recovering runes and cards happens in Sidetrack Scenes. Depending on the draw you can recover 1-3 runes and 1 card (though I may increase card recovery). Players can choose to go to a sidetrack...

That's a neat idea Raleel. The thing I've been struggling with is narrative control vs narrative tension. As it stands right now players draw their runes, that link to certain talents, then they decide which talents they want to use to tackle the problem at hand. The tricky part is, if players can c...

Re: New campaign tonight!

I think having a power codex per character would be most helpful.

I wrote up Gamli and Vanadis as characters for reference in Seith and Sword. When I did I jotted down the basics of their powers for reference. It was time consuming but worth it.

Re: Vanagard BETA

Did a playtest today at the Loft in Ottawa. It left me with a few ideas for the Story Game version of Vanagard: - There is also an RPG version which may be shared with the alpha soon. I really need to stress that burned runes not equate failure. They are success at a cost. Burning runes allows one t...

Re: iOS and android app

The app was one of the first things I bought after the main core book. It was very handy, especially before I had full rune sets of my very own.

Re: Crafting (and other skills) with exceptionally high diff

Perhaps but I'm a bit of a rules monkey so I had to figure out how it would work mechanically. I also make a brief note on how to handle Sparks of Laufey (and their Freya equivalent), and also how to handle beginning characters who have a lot of potential but not many powers. Plus, I've added a few ...

Re: Crafting (and other skills) with exceptionally high diff

What's interesting is that the Sampo doesn't have a high QR rating, though it was Ilmarinen's master work.

I want to go more into how Gamli's crafting madness works but I'll wait for the playbook to come out first.

Re: Crafting (and other skills) with exceptionally high diff

When I wrote up the Seith and Sword playbook I mentioned the Forge of Ilmarinen which I believe (it's been a while since I read my rough draft) gives a very high bonus to crafting. I also put in rules for Gamli's crafting madness. Theoretically legendary blacksmiths can create their own magic forges...
