I know, normally Amplify only applies to Weak Actions and values in a power that are written out in numbers. Reckless Whirlwind Attack's first Meta is Amplify, however the only numerical value listed is a Minor Sacrifice +2.

Obviously, there has to be something else to which Amplify applies. What is it?

The attack actions’s damage. The amplify works on the final effect, not just the power. Take a look at the power attack example in the amplify description. It doesn’t just double he bonus from power attack. It also doubles the weapon damage.

I admit, though, that one does feel a little off

Raleel is right, the action numbers get amp'ed, so Move, Attack and Defend action values. When there's a sacrifice value, that gets amp'ed as well. The "Reckless" line of actions are amazing for dweller builds with Rage.

Oh, wow. That makes a HUGE difference to how I've been interpreting things. I only doubled the numerical values explicitly stated in the power description, NOT "second generation" values. Example:

Power Attack says perform an Attack Action with a +2 Physical DF Bonus. If my Dweller does base of 12 DF, Power Attack would be 14 DF. Amplified, I only had it Amplify the +2, NOT the "second generation" 12 DF from the Attack Action.

This is going to change a lot.

Also, just to make sure I understand completely.

The Mauling Power (Unarmed Attack with a +3 DF/+2 Pierce bonus plus +1DF/+2 Pierce for every five levels) that is Amplified would double the base Unarmed Attack DF, the +3/+2 AND the scaling +1/+2?

correct.

I think Mauling got reworded at some point in the errata.
