It's not called out in Denizens how the STRGS deals with positioning for individual combatants - specifically being behind someone. Important for cases like Backstab and Spin.any guidance here?

I've been thinking I'm going to go with "when your target has already been attacked by someone else" and then allowing Spin to turn into some "redirect defenses" action.

I'm sorry to necro-thread this, but STRGS is how I prefer to play, so I'm excited to respond.

I have found that it works itself out. If someone has already said they want to keep out of sight, or hold back, or be on the sidelines, or that they're not known in the conflict already - boom, there's the opportunity for things like Backstab.

I don't know how I missed this thread before, but I'll throw my $0.02 in...

Raleel the approach makes sense, but the attacker may also say "I move behind someone" and unless the victim pays a rune to turn around to face them, they get the bonus.

Panj, your approach also works well.

I think anything that is conditional can be setup, and unless victim pays runes for counter, they get hit with the added effect.

This has been roughly my mantra for paring down the system to its base element, just to ease the running of it. There are a lot of rules. No one else at the table has learned them. So, I've been grateful for any variation that will lend itself to ease-of-play without breaking the structure of the game.
